Walking Street Pattaya Thailand

pattaya

pattaya

Being famous the world over since the American GI’s first used Pattaya as their R & R is “Waking Street”. This street in Pattaya has had literally ten’s of thousands of visitors of all descriptions and nationalities over the years walk it length. Hence its name and is the hottest street virtually known on the planet. You will find everything here, and is in overdose proportions, being packed either side with drinking bars, go-go, disco’s, nightclubs, and restaurants of all descriptions. The Street is ablaze at night with flashing neon lights, near naked coyote dancers, loud music and with cheap drink guarantees an unforgettable experience.

One’s first time in the Street is completely mind blowing, being bombarded with loud music from every direction. At the far top end, can be found the Mxxx disco this being aimed at the young rich and trendy of Pattaya.

If you are going to venture here then dress to impress, in impressive surroundings but keep in mind any one aged over thirty five will appear ancient. If real rock and roll is your bag “The rolling stones bar” is for you with popular live rock and roll from its resident band.

If your looking for something really different then there is the arab quarter, with belly dancers and deafening music. Warning don’t stay here or you might suffer permanent damage to your hearing, you will see people of all nationalities smoking water pipes in some establishments.

Lucifer’s disco is easy found with its large neon sign above the entrance, like most discos in Pattaya entrance time is regarded as two am when the ladies leave their respective bars. Going any earlier and you might well be the only person there. Although the drinks are expensive this drifts into insignificance when weighted against the atmosphere and entertainment value.

Go-go bars are common place at every turn. “The iron door” nearby being very popular. The place is full of beautiful and exotic ladies with lots of smiles and intensive looks. This makes a newbie single male tourist a love god overnight. Perhaps more seedy of all the go-go bars is “Beavers” here ladies dance on mirrored tables, and as the name implies little is left to the imagination.

For those who just want good food this is possible too with an array of restaurants covering varied menus, Want a first class meal at 3am “No problem Sir”

Winter Surfing

surfing in thailand

It’s hard to believe that it’s almost winter all over again. For surfers, its arrival always brings mixed feelings. Looking out the window and seeing icy streets and driving rain never really inspires excitement for jumping into the sea, but as most surfers know, there’s a very good chance that the best surfs you will ever have in the UK come as Autumn takes hold and gives way to winter.

The last few months of the year are the best time to hit the beach since the water hasn’t had time to cool right the way down and the regular swells and deserted beaches offer the finest conditions to find the best surf possible.

However, if you haven’t tried winter surfing before, you do need to ensure you have the right equipment. Your wetsuit may keep you nice and warm in the summer months, but braving the elements when you paddle out come winter, you will need something completely different.

Boots and gloves are vital for keeping your extremities warm and a hood will both keep you warm and stop you developing the dreaded Surfer’s Ear.

After that you just need to make sure you have a wetsuit that will offer the upmost in warmth while still giving you the flexibility you need for the perfect surf.

One of the best options is XCEL Infiniti wetsuits. Not only are XCEL wetsuits extremely comfortable and very warm, but the award-winning line also offers excellent flexibility and shows much less sign of wear than most others on the market. The neoprene in XCEL Infiniti wetsuits is mineral-based and therefore kinder to the environment too.

So if you want to catch the best waves that the UK has to offer, getting the right wetsuit is imperative. And XCEL wetsuits can offer you everything you need and a price that is impossible to beat.

Frugal Surfing

It’s a little hard to believe the high prices of surfing clothes and equipment these days. Surfboard prices are through the roof. It’s easy to spend $ 800-1200 on a new board if you’re not sponsored by a local surf shop or surfing brand.

Gear is expensive too, with wet suits costing up to $ 400. If you don’t know how to find lower prices on surfing gear, you might never even get started in the sport. Here are a few price saving tips that can help lower the cost of surfing.

Used Surfboards

Surfboards can be purchased used and in great shape for much less than you’d buy a new one for. That $ 800 brand new Rusty is going to sell for $ 300 in a few years, and it’ll be in a really good condition – people don’t tend to knock around their $ 800 surfboards. It’ll probably even come with a leash when you buy it used. Look for online for sale boards where people sell their used surfboards.

You’ll be surprised at the bargains you can find.

Cheap Wetsuits

Wet suits are another piece of surfing gear you can save a lot of money on. People eventually don’t need their wetsuit anymore, either because it has a hole in it or they just don’t fit in it or want something new. Used wet suits go for about $ 10-30. If a used wet suit you buy has a hole in it, simply fill the hole with liquid neoprene, which you can find at some surf shops. If you don’t find it at your surf shop, check Walmart or Lowes.

Why Thailand is top for beach breaks

thailand beach

thailand beach

When most people think of Thailand’s beaches, Phuket is likely the destination that comes to mind, with images of beautiful sands and waterfalls as well as holidaymakers celebrating on the beach or taking to the emerald seas for water sports such as snorkelling. However, those looking to escape the crowds that often plague Phuket throughout the year should consider venturing further and discovering lesser known gems on their Thailand holidays.

Staying at a beach resort close to international airports may be convenient for getting there and returning home, but many other visitors will doubtless have the same idea. This not only leads to overcrowding, meaning you may never enjoy peace and quiet on your break, but can also lead to increased prices, making searching for more secluded beaches elsewhere a much more appealing option.

One of the best places to enjoy Thailand beach holidays away from mass tourism is Krabi Island, home to secluded spots such as Rai Lay beach, just a short distance from the more crowded Ao Nang.

Rai Lay has long been known to rock climbers, but this well kept secret is fast becoming a destination of choice for beach lovers too, so should be visited while the crowds are still at bay.

For even more diversity on your Thailand holidays, consider Koh Chang island, which is surrounded by diverse rainforest terrain, making for some truly spectacular views. While sports lovers may prefer to head to Koh Chang Marine National Park for some world-class diving and kids will likely be drawn to Tree Top Adventure Park, beach lovers are urged to head to the east coast, where they’ll find secluded beaches to enjoy a relaxing stroll or sunbathe in peace. However, you should bear in mind that beaches less visited by tourists will usually be lacking in amenities too.

For secluded beaches in the vicinity of overcrowded Phuket, Khao Lak could be just the place, and the island also features golf courses and hot springs, offering a multitude of holiday activities. Whatever facet of the natural world you’re interested in, you’re sure to find it in Khao Lak’s many national parks, including Khao Lak-Lam Ru National Park and Thai Muang National Park.

Koh Samui is another southern Thailand island often beset by crowds, but just a short hop away is the smaller isle of Koh Tao, which takes its name from the turtles that once called this scenic island their home.

Destination: Hua Hin, Thailand

surfing in thailand

surfing in thailand

Hua Hins image as a sleepy fishing village was soon transformed. Other royal families and the elite of Thailand started acquiring prime beach front properties to build their own summer retreats. Hua Hin was converted into a beach resort with Thai royalties as patrons.

Located some 200 kilometers from Bangkok, Hua HIn was accessible by both trains and cars. The train station in Hua Hin is located in one of the two major streets of the town that lead directly to the beach. The Royal Waiting Room was built separately from the main train station for the exclusive use of King Rama VII and his entourage. The Royal Railway Hotel was built adjacent to the station and was designed and patterned after the old Siam architectural style, same as the Royal Waiting Room. The first golf course in Thailand is in Hua Hin.

Hua Hin had its royal and glorious moments during the reign of King Rama VII. However, the effects of World War II had its toll on the place that for a time Hua Hin was forgotten. Pattaya was slowly but surely hugging the spot as the in beach in the Gulf of Thailand as American soldiers on R&R gravitated towards the livelier beach destination. Hua Hin was slowly rebuilt as indefatigable backpackers re-discovered the place. Soon more hotels, condominiums, shopping areas and local and international restaurants were established. Dusit Thani Hotel is one of the top hotels in the area.

One can enjoy viewing the beautiful palaces and villas of Thailands crme de la crme. Most of the summer retreats were built in the first quarter of the 20th century and it is quite interesting to note the merging of classic Siam architecture with the prevailing international style known as Art Deco. The train station in Hua Hin is the oldest and most beautiful in Thailand. A picture with the train station as the backdrop is a must do when in Hua Hin.

The beaches in Hua Hin are at par with the beaches in Phuket in terms of water sports as snorkeling, diving, para-sailing, jet-skiing, wind surfing and even deep sea fishing are offered in Hua Hin. There are seven world class golf courses in Thailand. It can be said that Hua Hin is a golfing holiday destination as golfers from all over the world troop to Hua Hin to play. Well-maintained and of international standards, Hua Hin links have the advantage of low green fees and a view of the sparkling sea.

Hua Hin is a family-friendly tourist destination with the ambiance of the old and new.
